Wedding planning is something that girls start even before they like boys (or other girls). But I was never one of these girls.
I was a tomboy pretty much until 11th grade and even then I wasn’t wearing dresses or painting my nails, I just started wearing mascara. A lot has changed since then, because ever since I got engaged a month ago I’ve become the girliest of the girly girls.
Let’s not get crazy here, I’m not as girly as any of the My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding brides (I don’t think I could be if I tried), but I’ve definitely got at least 6 wedding magazines on my desk right now and a bunch of lacy wedding dress photos on my laptop’s desktop.
Since I am in the very early stages of wedding planning, the most I’ve done so far is come up with a budget. Now, I’ve read that the average wedding nowadays costs about $25,000, but I’m sorry, that is not gonna happen. I’m planning to have a simple, romantic, rustic, Rachel Getting Married inspired, British countryside, church wedding (got all that?) for less than $10,000 with about 80 or so guests. That’s my dream anyways.
Now, I know there are definitely ways to have an even cheaper wedding. If you’ve read Squawkfox’s post about her $239 wedding you’ll know what I mean, but I’ve got a pretty clear vision in my mind, and a potluck lunch does not fit that vision.
As the wedding planning progresses I’ll be able to show you how my budget is broken down, but for now, I’m gonna be doing a lot of research on DIY everything. Thank god for Pinterest, that’s all I’ve gotta say.
If any of you have experience in wedding planning on the cheap, please let me know! I need all the help I can get!
